Artist’s Bio

Anthony Scheving MA²

Tony Scheving is a Visionary/Spiritual Artist, Writer and Counselor living in Sonora, Ca.  In 1985 he was one of the first twenty students to receive a Masters Degree in Conceptual Design from San Francisco State University’s Art Department.  He received his second Masters Degree in Imaginal Psychology in 2004 and is currently continuing graduate studies working towards a PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in Artistic Expression and Ecstatic States.

Over the years he has worked in many different mediums including painting, silk screen printing, large environmental sculpture, welded metal sculptures, and computer graphic imagery.  He taught computer graphics and design courses at SFSU for close to ten years and at UC Berkeley Extension for two years. Two of his large welded metal sculpture designs are on permanent display on the campus of Contra Costa College in San Pablo, California.  Tony’s digital artwork has been used for book, CD covers, and numerous websites.  It has also been featured in 2007 and 2008 at the main altar of the Harmony and Earth Dance Festivals, as well as being featured in the main hall of the Global Sound Healing Conference in 2007.  

Tony’s goal as an Artist, Writer, and Counselor is to help bring awareness to the animism, and vibratory nature of all things.   He works in vivid colors and multi-layered dimensions that are meant to evoke dream-like states and a visual reverberation.  Tony states, “Through this visual reverberation, this work aims to create a depth of inquiry of what we are looking at, and a reflection of who is the viewer, in the hopes of becoming more aware of how to live with vibrancy, self awareness, creativity, and clarity. This work evolves around establishing a connection of communication between ones inner and outer life, between soul and individualized identity.”

 

 

 

As a writer Tony is a former book review editor for the journal Leonardo and more recently was published as a co-author in the anthology Healing Our Planet, Healing Our Selves. Other well-known contributors to this book include the Dalai Lama, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, Joan Borysenko, Larry Dossey, Ram Dass, Huston Smith, Andrew Harvey, Daryl Hannah, Mary Catherine Bateson, Gay Hendricks, Helen Caldicott, Barbara Marx Hubbard, and many others.
